Athletics

Christian School Minneapolis

Athletics at Maranatha Christian Academy is viewed as an extension of the mission and core values of the school. Sportsmanship, character, and faith are developed in young athletes through sports at MCA. In Colossians 1:18 we read that Jesus is to have pre-eminence in all things. This is the basis of our athletic program.

Through team devotions, prayer, and the Christ-like modeling of coaches, MCA students learn how to integrate their faith into athletics. Our goal is not just to win, but to teach student athletes how to play and compete as unto the Lord while representing Jesus Christ before the school and community at large.

MCA Offers 13 Varsity Sports

Boys' varsity offerings include: soccer, cross country, basketball, baseball, golf, and track & field. Girls' varsity offerings include: soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, softball, cheerleading, and track & field.

New for 2012-2013! - Play Three and Play for FREE.
The Athletic Department at MCA is initiating a new program for athletes called, Play Three and Play for FREE. When any athlete plays two sports, they can elect to play a third and it is FREE (they do not have to pay the registration fee). For example, a student-athlete could play soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, and then run track for free in the spring. What a great opportunity to get involved!
- Please note, this only applies to those student-athletes participating in MCA athletics and cannot be applied to any of the Osseo Coop sports. For more information, please contact the Athletic Office at 763-315-7279.

Injured During a MCA Activity or Sport?
Maranatha Christian Academy recently purchased ACSI Student Accident Insurance Coverage. This covers your child for an accidental injury sustained while he/she is under the care and direction of MCA. To access a claim form, please click here.  Also, there is optional additional coverages available, to view these, please click here.

Coop with Osseo Gives MCA Students Several More Athletic Opportunities
In addition to these varsity sports, MCA has established a cooperative program with Osseo High School where, for a nominal fee payable to that school, MCA students can participate in additional sports including: football, boys' and girls' swimming and diving, girls' gymnastics, and boys' and girls' tennis.

MCA - Athletic Opportunities
Athletics Are Not Just for Upperclassmen!
We have many other opportunities at the Junior Varsity, C-team (9th and 10th grade), and Junior High (6th and 8th grade).

Attention Student-Athletes in Grade 6!

New for the 2012-2013 school year, student-athletes in Grade 6 can register and participate in upper school athletics. Please note that due to Minnesota State High School League rules and regulations, these student-athletes cannot play junior varsity or varsity level sports. Rather they are able to play junior high sports (when applicable) and/or practice with the junior varsity and varsity teams. For more information, please contact the athletic office at 763-315-7279
.

We are proud to have the support of the MCA Booster Club. Go Mustangs!

MCA is a member of the
Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association Conference.

Transportation for Athletes at MCA

Athletes will need to find their own transportation to all practices and home games. Bus transportation will be provided for most away games at the JV and varsity level. If a bus is not available, coaches and parents will need to arrange for transportation. Players are expected to attend all practices and games unless absent from school or previously excused by the coach.
