Academic Individualized Education Plans (IEP/504) are designed to provide accommodations and/or modifications for students showing a need for academic support in one or more subjects beyond what is provided for all students.
Learning Support
We believe that every child bears the image of God and possesses unique gifts that the world needs. Our Learning Support team is dedicated to ensuring that every student has the tools and encouragement to flourish.
We don’t view support as a sideline; it is central to our mission of knowing and loving our students well. Whether a student needs academic reinforcement or a different approach to unlock their potential, we partner with families to create a pathway to success. It is our joy to watch students discover their strengths and overcome challenges, confident in who God made them to be.
Here are a few of the ways we help our students:
Students may be given the WIDA MODEL (Measure of Developing English Language) test to determine the level of support needed and annually to measure English growth. This test assesses English language proficiency in the areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. Students who qualify for ELL services will receive one-on-one or small group support from an ELL teacher. Based on the need, support will be provided either in the classroom to support classroom work, or outside of the classroom to help develop the student's proficiency in English.
Mini dyslexia screenings are available upon parent request or teacher referral. Tutoring is provided using an Orton-Gillingham based approach. Our tutors use the Barton Reading & Spelling System.

Focus and self-regulation are the keys to success in the classroom. Sensory breaks are designed to provide students who need additional sensory support with some time away from the normal class structure.
Our staff determines if in some cases, small group and one-on-one instruction for students should be provided in reading and math based on student needs.
Sometimes students need more than just academic support. Organizational Support is available to teach students how to successfully manage their academic workload on an independent basis, leading to more efficient time management and even success in the classroom.
ALPHA (Advanced Learning Program for High Achievers)
This Grade 2–5 program offers extension opportunities for advanced students in math and/or reading/language arts. Students are identified through a process of testing and teacher recommendation and invited to join the program. Students are pulled out of class once per week to participate.
