Faith & Service

We invite our students to worship, pray, and spiritually grow together with those who will become their lifelong friends. Our desire is for every student to know Jesus Christ and discover the joy of a real and lifelong relationship with Him. 

Maranatha offers our students a caring environment where Christ’s attitude is reflected everywhere. We care about each other, pray for each other, and support each other in prayer and biblical understanding. We encourage student to become an active part of a school where he or she is family and encouraged to become the “whole” person–spirit, soul, and body–that God created him or her to be.

Opportunities await for your child to grow in their faith at Maranatha Christian Academy.

We encourage or students to share their God-given talents and abilities with classmates and the community. As they grow and mature, we believe they will want to make a difference in the lives of others by ultimately taking Jesus Christ into the world. Through a Kingdom Culture that builds a unity of purpose and positive peer pressure, Maranatha students are bound by common goals and aspirations.

Academic achievement is valued and does not conflict with social acceptance here. Each student is challenged and equipped to value all people according to God’s Word. Our environment is safe and peaceful, a place where students are free to be themselves and explore their ideas and feelings under godly guidance. Students have the freedom to pray and worship.

Chapels

MCA has weekly chapel services for all grades Pre-k through 12. All parents are welcome to attend chapel services.

  • The middle school and upper school chapel services begin with praise and worship led by the student-led Chapel Band and feature a range of dynamic in-house and guest speakers to motivate and challenge students to continue serving God with all their hearts.
  • The lower school chapels feature praise and worship, skits, and ministry from either a staff member or guest speaker. In pre-kindergarten, students are instructed in praise, worship, and prayer during chapel. Students are given opportunities to enter into the presence of the Lord, which enhances an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father, knowing Him instead of just knowing about Him. 

 

Character Hour (Middle School)

Character Hour is a weekly time when 5th-8th graders grow together. It's a chance for students to hang out, learn from each other, and become better leaders. Teachers and students dive into real-life conversations, discussing what matters, and figure out how to live out our faith practically through our leadership curriculum and ongoing discussions.

During character hour, we want to build genuine connections. Through games, discussions, and hands-on activities, we explore what it means to have strong character and how to impact the world around us positively.

Character Hour is about becoming the kind of people who can make a difference. We learn to lead by example, support each other, and implement our Christian values. It's fun and challenging, and it helps shape who we are and who we want our students to be.

Discipleship Groups (High School)

Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) at Maranatha Christian Academy is pivotal to our High School experience. D-groups offer students the opportunity to be transparent with one another as they engage in meaningful conversations and team-building activities that strengthen the study body. Each week, teachers and students read the Bible while focusing on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Throughout the year, D-groups are encouraged to play an active role in their community by assisting in service learning events. 

Daily Bread

Daily Bread at Maranatha Christian Academy is a prime example on how our students are passionate about having a personal relationship with Jesus. Daily Bread is a student-led organization that takes place daily during high school lunch. Students engage in worship, prayer, and intentionally open the Word of God together. MCA staff and students in high school are welcome to join this wonderful experience. 

Student Outreach

It is one thing to teach from a Christian worldview. It is another to encourage students to have a Christian “world-do” mindset. From our Pre-k raising money to buy a goat for communities abroad, to our kindergarteners writing cards for Veterans Day and May Day for nursing home residents, to lower school students knitting squares that are patched together for blankets and given to children at a local hospital, we are teaching our students to lead with empathy and live out an outreach mentality.

Missions Trips

Providing opportunities for our students to participate in mission trips is an integral part of fulfilling our mission. As seen in MCA’s purpose statement, we desire that our students carry out the Great Commission and learn by our example to place the needs of others above their own needs and wants.

High school students have an opportunity each year over Spring break to travel to Zacatecas, Mexico, where they complete work projects for a local church and minister to children in an orphanage.

All School Service Project (Meals for Minneapolis)

Helping to End Food Insecurity

In what has become a yearly tradition, every Maranatha student gathers to pack over 50,000 meals that are delivered to local food shelves. Over the last few years, our students have packed over 215,000 meals. Meals for Minneapolis is our way of involving friends and family of MCA in an amazing outreach and fundraiser for the school.

A strong emphasis on volunteerism and service-learning provides students with multiple opportunities to make a positive impact in the world. In the process, they develop a lifestyle of giving that values the needs of others above their own. What each child brings to Maranatha is special and unique, and will impact the lives of others in a way that only he or she can. Every student has a distinctive nature and a God-given personality that we value and need.
