2024 Senior Capstone Speech – Matthew Singh

Matthew Singh

Matthew reflects on the idea that the average person has about 692,140 hours to live, and the importance of how we use these hours. He shares his personal journey of struggling to balance his own plans for life with God’s plan. Like the rich young man in Matthew 19, he was initially afraid to fully give his life to Jesus. Through the influence of mentors and experiences like joining his chapel band and attending Bible study, Matthew realized the importance of surrendering his plans and living fully for God. Using the metaphor of an hourglass, he encourages others to view each moment as an opportunity to lay their desires at Jesus’ feet and follow His path wholeheartedly. Ultimately, he challenges the audience to consider how they will use their remaining hours on earth in service to God rather than themselves.
