Did you know that MCA had three students win at the recent state piano competition?

Miles Van Otterloo, Halsten Van Otterloo, and Lucy Schultz all worked incredibly hard to make their way through the state-wide preliminary round to get to state this last January (2026).

All three musicians ended up making it through preliminaries and ended up advancing to state in March for the MMTA (Minnesota Music Teachers Association) competition!

For Miles, this was his third time winning state, for Halsten, his fourth, and for Lucy, her second.

Having won state, all three students are now invited to perform at the MMTA Honor's Concert in June at the Minneapolis Convention Center in celebration of their success. Additionally, four more of Mrs. Lundblad’s home studio students also won at finals!

We couldn't be more proud of these Mustang musicians, our incredible teachers and all the hard work they put in, and we are just so happy to honor these students for all of their hard work, dedication, and musical skill!
